Police in the Philippines have detained eight fellow officers accused of forcing new recruits to not only eat red-hot peppers but also rub them on their genitals.

“Investigation is under way to establish an airtight case against the suspects for violation of the anti-hazing law and for grave misconduct,” Chief Supt Agrimero Cruz said.

The case stemmed from a video that appeared to show the recruits being force fed.
