Holidaymakers heading for France are being warned to beware of killer seaweed.

Officials have issued an alert after a huge increase in algae that gives off a gas as poisonous as cyanide as it rots.

The weed has been made even more toxic by waste from pig and poultry farms flowing down rivers into the sea off the Brittany coast.

The alert comes after 28 wild boar were found dead on one stretch of beach at the Morieux river estuary.
